Der Landschafts- und Lebensraum in und um Kitzbühel bot für Alfons Walde eine breit gefächerte Ausgangsbasis für seinen künstlerischen Weg. Für sein vitales, in einer Vielfalt gestaltetes Lebensbild war hier eine traditionsreiche Grundlage vorgegeben, die von der Mentalität und der Wesensart der städtischen und bäuerlichen Menschen geprägt war. Im Zusammenschluß von Natur und Mensch erwuchs eine auf beiden Polen fußende Motivwahl. Dies mag für die überregionale Bedeutung eines Künstlers eine schmale Basis darstellen, wie reich aber dieses Fundament an Erlebniswerten sein konnte, demonstriert Walde in seinem Œuvre. Wer die Kitzbüheler Landschaft in sich aufzunehmen weiß, erfährt den Reichtum dieser Region, wer den Menschen dieser Gegend nähertreten kann, fühlt sich den Menschenbildern Waldes nahe.
